This blog is an attempt to describe the species, mostly those from the Western Ghats in as simple terms as possible. Constructive criticism is more then welcome as I am no botanist and would definitely benefit from learning.
Is it flowering for the first time? May be the things will be better next time... Last season the entire buds of my Calanthe sylvatica dropped...I thought it will never flower in my place... But this time they flowered.. So let's hope for the best..
Pankaj, for me I can't distinguish from barbatulum and ovatum. I believe there are all sorts of forms in between the two. The only difference I've noticed is that the ones with the pure white flowers have long and thick stems, the ones with the coloured throat area are short and stout and the pink flowered ones have very thin stems and readily send off baby plants from the old stems. I don't know how it is up in the Northern Western Ghats.
I like the color...
ReplyDeleteThanks Jose. I just noticed that this one always carries only a solitary flower. Even if there are multiple buds, the others just wilt away.
